Cranial Tumor Surgical Outcomes

Dr. Desmond Brown, a Resident in Neurosurgery, and Dr. Ian Parney, a Professor of Neurosurgery, both at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, share results of their study appearing in the January 2018 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where their team compared outcomes for surgical patients in a high-volume surgical center to see if there was any adverse outcomes associated with the participation of residents during surgical procedures. Although an increased volume could have the potential to offer undesirable results, they found there were no negative outcomes in this single center study, and suggest these results could be extrapolated to other high volume centers.
